Director of Music

Jordan W. McFarlaneDipABRSM MISM

Jordan W. McFarlane joined Shifnal & District Male Voice Choir as Director of Music in October 2024. He works across the region as a conductor, accompanist, teacher and musical director.

A pianist and singer, Jordan holds the DipABRSM diploma and is a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians. His work spans private tuition, choral direction, accompanying and community music-making. Across Shropshire and the surrounding area, he has worked with Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir, Chase Choral Society, Newport (Salop) & District Male Voice Choir, Halfway House Male Voice Choir, Halfway House Ladies Choir and Cosford Military Wives Choir, and regularly accompanies and conducts other local groups.

At Shifnal, Jordan is focused on developing the choir's sound, confidence and repertoire while continuing the tradition of fellowship and community service the choir has built since 1957. He believes choirs sound best when the men feel challenged and supported, and that the music should be as enjoyable to make as it is to listen to.

Alongside the choir, Jordan runs McFarlane Music, teaching piano, singing and music theory locally.

Pianist with decades of accompanying experience, from London music clubs to Shifnal.

Accompanist

Corinne Littlehales

Corinne joined Shifnal Male Voice Choir as accompanist in 2021, after moving up from London. She spent the previous twenty-plus years there as Grants Manager for a major music charity, helping professional musicians who could no longer work because of ill-health.

She's been making music all her life: amateur dramatics, community projects, a jazz piano and guitar duo, and years as the go-to pianist and accompanist at a London music club. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music and teaches piano to students of all ages, guiding many of them through their graded exams.

Thursdays in Shifnal are a highlight of her week. She finds the choir's love of singing infectious, and the men have helped her settle into her adopted home with a busy social calendar of Shropshire walks, birthday gatherings and the obligatory cream teas.
